THE THREE QUESTIONS
What is my dream for the world?
My best dream for the world is that all of humanity can live together in peace, respecting each others differences and rejoicing in our love for each other. I also dream of a world that respects and cares for all of God’s creatures, and delights in being the caretakers of God’s creation.
When did you know that God loves you?
I’ve always known that God loves me. My parents made sure that one of the first songs I learned was “Jesus Loves You, This I Know”. As an adult, I have learned that God’s love is always there for the taking, but especially when difficult times come to visit. It is during these times that God shows his love for me by placing all the right people before me to give me the courage and support I need to get through the difficult times.
When did you know that God loves everyone, no exceptions?
The realization that God loves everyone, no exceptions is a more recent discovery for me. As a 60-something, I’ve dealt with years of teaching and and culture that have tried to teach me otherwise. Luckily for me, I was somewhat sheltered as a child and had parents who allowed me to draw my own conclusions about the world. As I studied for ordination, I started to become aware that God is in each of us; you just have to look for him. In studying the scriptures, I’ve learned that Jesus’ love extended from the lowest of the low to the mightiest and wealthiest people. No matter who we are or what we have done, we can turn to God, ask of forgiveness, and receive it. That to me is proof that God loves everyone – no exceptions!
